The Best Advice On Life I’ve Ever Given, I Learned From This Exotic Plant from Central Sumatra

I was inspired by a post my daughter Kami Crume recently shared on LinkedIn from Sandip Nayak about “One of the Best Things He’s Ever Read.” It made me think of the rare Corpse Flower, a story I share in my coaching course.

Consider this. The Corpse Flower, native to the rainforests of central Sumatra, blooms once every 8 to 20 years, but when it does it opens up to 5 feet wide, or more, with a single dark-purple petal under a tall central stalk.

Now for the wisdom….

1. Don’t discount preparation time.

Preparation is the action or process of making ready. The times you are hidden, not recognized, unknown, looking like you will never make it, are all producing in you the character, the foundation needed to sustain your success.

2. Don’t bloom too soon.

Come out too soon, and you are a one hit wonder; a flash in the pan. Stay hidden, “baking” underground, enduring the pain of the process, and when you finally do get your shot, it will be heard around the world!

3. Don’t force it.

Don’t force what is intended to happen naturally. Stay patient and allow preparation to have its perfect work in you.

Don’t discount preparation time, it’s making you who you’ve always desired to be.
