What we can learn from our past mistakes that will guarantee we will never make them again.
Have you ever made a colossal mess of your life?
You know, the kind you thought you would never recover from? Have you ever looked back and thought to yourself, “If I just had that to do all over again, I would do it better?”
The truth is, you wouldn’t do it any better. In fact, if you had it to do all over again you would do it exactly the same. Why? Because you were none the wiser.
You didn’t know any better.
I had one of those colossal failures in my business a few years ago, to the tune of a few million dollars, that almost destroyed me. Every time I looked back, I kept beating myself up over the decisions I had made. Then it finally dawned on me. I didn’t know any better. I was none the wiser.
I did the best I could (you did the best you could) with the knowledge, wisdom, experience, and counsel I had at the time. And if granted another chance to “do it again,” I (that guy) would do it the same way. Why? Because I would still be the same.
