Giving Honor Where Honor Is Due

Remembering My Mentor: Jim Rohn

Looking back, Mr. Jim Rohn remains one of the most influential people in my life. As a young man hungry for life’s best, I sat on the front row of Jim’s seminar, in 1992, taking copious notes. (27 pages of notes to be exact. All of which I still have in my library.)

Later I had the privilege of working with Jim; traveling the country on his promotion’s team sharing his life-changing words of wisdom with everyone I came in contact with.

Every eight weeks I got to spend another 8 hours listening to Jim’s philosophies on life, business, wealth, success and happiness.

“Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges; wish for more wisdom.”

“Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.”

“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day, while failure is simply a few errors in judgment, repeated every day.”

Jim’s success principles and philosophies were simple and very easy to understand and follow. Yet, like Jim always said, “What’s easy to do is also easy not to do.”

I thank God for Mr. Rohn. His influence in my life has been priceless. And his legacy lives on…in my life, the lives of those I now get to speak into, and the lives of countless others he touched across the globe.

To be such an influence. To leave such a legacy.

Giving honor where honor is due.
